How green are you?

I think that in Chile the people don’t care about the environment, but there are organizations that help to reduce the contamination or even some people help on his own recycling and doing others activities. But, how the people learn about environmentally friendly practices? I think that in internet is where we find the most quantity information, at least in Chile. There’s a web page called “YoReciclo.com” and in this page we can know about the places for recycling through the type of garbage or different campaigns to recycle.

Also, the other day I saw a tv program in Canal 13 C about different initiatives like make bricks with plastic bottles and waste, or make crafts with glass. So, I think that are many types of alternatives for recycling and someone easier that we can incorporate into our habits. Like use bike or walk instead of a car, or turn off lights when we don’t use it. Also we can use the shower for less time and try to disconnect all the plugs that we not used.

The distance between my home and the university is long, and for that I used the public transporting, but I would like to use a bike like a transport. I’m not in any eco organization because I don´t have time to dedicate to these. But I would like to join in an eco-organization because there contribute to take care the environment and this is very important in these days.

For reduce my carbon footprint I recycle my water bottle and I used for a few days, for not buy every day a new water bottle. I turn on just one lights in the night in my house, for not spend too much electricity. I think in Santiago all the people use a car and they don´t worry about the contamination that a car produces. And many times I saw people litter in the street and don´t worry about that. They would have more conscience at the moment to think in the environment.

  1. Those are excellent initiatives! I think it'll take time for us to understand that we are doing something wrong to the planet.

  2. I don't use car, but some times you need it, specially in Santiago where the public transport are very bad, we need other solution too. For example if the public transport been better maybe the people wouldn't use car.
